Hazel Green goes green, earns green

Hazel Green Elementary School’s fourth and fifth-grade students accepted the PRIDE Environmental Education Project of the Month Award for their plastic recycling project. Principal Brad Mullins and Bianca Hawkins, who led the project, are on the front row, and the fourth and fifth-grade teachers are in the back.

Hazel Green Elementary School students made money for their school while learning about recycling. Their project also earned the PRIDE Environmental Education Project of the Month Award. Laurel Co. Extension hosts 4-H Eco Ed-venture for 738 students

Laurel County 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent Kim Whitson accepted the PRIDE Environmental Education Project of the Month Award from PRIDE’s Mark Davis.

The Laurel County Extension Service treated 738 students in grades 4-7 to a 4-H Eco EDventures Day, which was named the region’s PRIDE Environmental Education Project of the Month for September 2012.   The 24th annual Laurel Lake Cleanup netted two tons of trash, thanks to 224 volunteers who braved rain and a chilly temperature on April 21.
