Great Saltpetre Cave Festival

Great Saltpetre Cave Preserve invites you to the Saltpetre Festival at Open House, May 19 (9 am-5 pm) and May 20 (10 am - 4 pm).
Great Saltpetre Cave was a significant source of saltpetre during the War of 1812. In this bicentennial year, help celebrate Kentucky’s history. You can enjoy:
- Guided tours of the cave
- Free soup beans and cornbread
- Food concession stand operated by the Livingston Fire Department
- Souvenir concession stand
- Miles of hiking trails
- The picnic lunch you bring
Special features for 2012:
- 1800-1815 living history encampment
- Book Nook – local history, local authors
- Demonstration saltpetre vat
Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated!
