Jan. 18 is MLK Service Day. Get out. Explore. Clean up. Win.

The third Monday in January is the only federal holiday that is designated as a national day of service. All Americans are encouraged to volunteer to improve their communities.

In southern and eastern Kentucky, you can give back to your community while taking in the beautiful scenery it has to offer.

Over this long holiday weekend, PRIDE encourages you to get out, explore and clean up in The Kentucky Wildlands, our 41-county region. While you are enjoying the great outdoors, leave no trace. Take a bag with you to pick up litter.

As an extra incentive, PRIDE will give away prizes through The Kentucky Wildlands initiative, which is PRIDE’s regional tourism campaign. From the people who enter, five winners will be selected randomly to receive an Explorer Pack, which includes a t-shirt, backpack and tumbler with The Kentucky Wildlands logo.

Here is how to enter:

1. Get out and enjoy the outdoors in #TheKyWildlands before the end of MLK Service Day, which is Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.

2. On Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, post a pic of your exploration and a little part of your effort to clean up.

3. Use these three hashtags in your post: #leavenotrace #mlkserviceday #explorekywildlands

4. Your pics must be posted by 11:59 pm EST on MLK Service Day (Monday, January 18, 2021).

The Kentucky Wildlands has the sole right to disqualify entries for any reason as it deems necessary. Winners will be notified by direct messaging through the same social media channel where they posted. Winners will have 30 days to claim their prize.
