April is PRIDE Spring Cleanup Month

Celebrating 20 Years: 433,460 Volunteers and Counting

The PRIDE Spring Cleanup has become an annual tradition in southern and eastern Kentucky. Since the first Spring Cleanup in 1998, 433,460 people have volunteered with PRIDE.

The tradition will continue in April 2018. Local governments will work with individuals and groups to organize cleanup events. PRIDE will supply trash bags, gloves, safety vests, T-shirts (while supplies last) and funding assistance.

We thank our sponsors of the region-wide PRIDE Spring Cleanup: Walmart, Touchstone Energy Cooperative, Outdoor Venture Corp., and Kentucky American Water.

You are invited to join the celebration!

Please answer the call for volunteers when Spring Cleanup events near you are announced. Stay tuned to your local media or facebook.com/EasternKentuckyPRIDE. Invite your friends and family to join you to:

  • Have fun while working together outside.
  • Improve your community’s appearance.
  • Inspire others to dispose of trash properly.
  • Prove your hometown pride.

Here are a few Spring Cleanup events already scheduled:

  • March 24 – McCreary County River Sweep.
  • April 17 – US 27 Clean Sweep (Pulaski County).
  • April 21 – Dale Hollow Spring Cleanup.
  • April 28 – Cumberland Falls Spring Cleanup.

Consider planning a Spring Cleanup event for your church, business, civic club, neighborhood association, school or other group. To get started, call your local PRIDE Coordinator. Your coordinator’s phone number can be found by clicking your county on the map at kypride.org/service-area.

You may consider donating financial or in-kind support to create a rewarding experience for your local PRIDE volunteers. Ideas include:

  • Supplying food and/or door prizes.
  • Publicizing and/or staffing cleanup events.
  • Sponsoring a cleanup event.
