US 27 Clean Sweep

PRIDE Clean Sweep of US 27

PRIDE Clean Sweep of US 27

On May 11, PRIDE presented plaques and Eastern Redbud trees to the five organizations with the largest number of volunteers participating in the third annual PRIDE Clean Sweep of US 27.

The five volunteer groups with the most volunteers were: Somerset High School, Somerset Community College, Kentucky Department of Transportation-District 8, South Kentucky RECC and The Center for Rural Development.

A total of 503 volunteers participated in the PRIDE Clean Sweep of US 27. Most volunteers picked up litter on April 1, but several groups volunteered later in the month due to scheduling conflicts and inclement weather.

They removed 522 bags of trash, 21 tires and one couch along US 27 in Somerset and Burnside, as well as Monticello Street, Grand Central Avenue, Lakeview Drive, Norwood Road, Old Salts Road and downtown streets.
