If you are anxious to leave winter behind and get outdoors, then make plans to volunteer for the Magoffin County Spring Cleanup event on Saturday, April 5.

Volunteers are needed to pick up litter at the Battle of Puncheon Culture and Heritage Park, which is at the junction of Hwy 7 and Hwy 1471, across from South Magoffin Elementary School.

All help would be appreciated to make the park look its best before the Battle of Puncheon/Half Mountain celebration is held there April 11-13.

Kid-friendly areas will be available. Law enforcement will be directing traffic.

Volunteers should meet at South Magoffin Elementary School at 9 a.m. on April 5, rain or shine. They will receive trash bags and gloves, provided by PRIDE. The event will end when the park is clean, likely by 2 p.m.

Today (April 9) is KY Gives Day -- an online fundraising event for Kentucky's nonprofit organizations. The nonprofits that receive the most donations will win cash prizes.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to PRIDE today. Together, we can buy more supplies for volunteers and environmental education materials for teachers. Together, we will make our region look its best. Here are some ways your donation will pay off:

  • $20 will supply volunteers the bags to pick up 5,000 pounds of trash
  • $25 will reach 65 students with a hands-on environmental education activity
  • $75 will dispose of 2 tons of trash collected by volunteers
  • $100 will involve 275 students in an environmental education project

To donate, go to http://kygives.razoo.com/story/Eastern-Kentucky-Pride?referral_code=share.

  • Please share the link with others, too.
  • You can donate at this link year round, by the way.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR REGION THE BEST IT CAN BE!

Eastern Kentucky PRIDE, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
